Training programmes
One of the main objective of NITUB is to organize training programmes. Since its inception in July 1994, NITUB has been conducting various training programmes on scientific equipment such as Infra Red, Ultra violet & Visible Spectrophotometers (IR & UV-VIS), Gas Chromatograph (GC), Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS),

Background |
| |
| |
To improve the capability of proper use, maintenance and repair of scientific equipment, scientists and technical personnel of Bangladesh launched a network, " Network of Instrument Technical personnel and User scientists of Bangladesh (NITUB)" on 19 July 1994. NITUB is a voluntary, non-profit, non-political learned society dedicated to scientific education and research in Bangladesh. |
| |
| |
To fulfill the aims and objectives of NITUB, a large number of training programmes on common laboratory equipment and specific groups of instruments such as AAS, HPLC, UV-VIS, IR X-ray and common medical instruments etc. have been organized. The training programme on common laboratory equipment have also been organized by NITUB. NITUB has already trained more then 567 scientists and technical personnel of Bangladesh through its training programmes. NITUB usually organizes 2-3 training programmes each year. Other than training programmes, NITUB is also conducting Instrument Repair Programme through which non-functioning scientific instruments are being repaired. So far, NITUB has conducted 41 training programmes on various groups of instruments and repaired more than 965 scientific equipment of different educational and research organizations of Bangladesh. |
| |
| |
NITUB already has organized four training programme on common medical instruments and the last one was organized in 2009. NITUB is getting requests from the user scientists and medical technologists from different hospitals and laboratories of many organizations to organize training programme on common medical instruments on a regular basis. Therefore, NITUB plans to organize its 43rd training programme on the use and maintenance of common medical instruments. |
| |
| |
Training Programme |
| |
| |
The 43rd training programme of NITUB will include theoretical lectures and practical training sessions on operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of common medical instruments, such as Microscope, Incubator, Sucker machine, Colorimeter, Semiauto and Autoanalyzer, Hematology analyzer, ECG, Ultrsonograph, X-ray and on other routine laboratory equipment. The training will be conducted by professors, senior scientists and NITUB technical experts. |
| |
| |
Participants |
| |
| |
A maximum of 20 (Twenty) participants will be selected from among the applicants of various public/private hospitals and health centers. The detailed programme will be sent later to the selected participants. Selected participants may bring one/two of their non-functioning portable medical equipment and try to repair the instruments during the practical sessions of the training programme. |
| |
| |
Registration |
| |
| |
Applications for the 43rd training programme on common medical instruments should reach the General Secretary of NITUB on or before 17 November 2011 in the proforma given in the circular. Application must be sent through proper channel along with a training fee of Tk. 3000/- (Taka Three thousand) in the form of a bank draft or pay order in the name of NITUB. Training fee will include registration, instruction materials, lunch, and tea. |
| |
| |
Selected participants will be informed by 22 November 2011 and the training fee of the applicants who could not be accommodated will be refunded. |

NITUB is regularly conducting training programme on the use and maintenance of specific groups of instruments such as UV-VIS & IR, AAS, GC, HPLC and X-ray etc. Other than specific groups of instruments, NITUB also conducts training programme on common laboratory equipment for college teacher and common medical equipment for medical professionals. So far, NITUB has conducted 41 training programmes on various groups of instrument. NITUB is also conducting Instrument Repair Programme through which non-functioning scientific instruments are being repaired. |
| |
| |
Since its inception, NITUB already has organized five training programmes on the use and maintenance of UV-VIS & IR spectrophotometers and the last one was held in 2007. NITUB is getting requests again from the user scientists and technical personnel of many organizations to organize another training programme on UV-VIS & IR spectrophotometer. The EC of NITUB, therefore, decided to organize the 41st training programme on UV-VIS & IR spectrophotometer. |

Background |
| |
| |
The Network of Instrument Technical personnel and User scientists of Bangladesh (NITUB), a voluntary non-profit, non-political learned society, is functioning since 1994 with the aim of improving the capability of scientists and technical personnel to use, maintain and repair of scientific equipment properly. |
| |
| |
So far, NITUB has conducted 40 training programmes on various groups of instrument. |
| |
| |
| |
| |
Programme |
| |
| |
The 41st training programme of NITUB will be on theoretical lectures and practical training sessions on operation, analytical applications maintenance and trouble-shooting of UV-VIS & IR spectrophotometer. A tentative time-table for the training programme is given, however the final programme will be sent later to the selected participants. The training programme will be conducted by university professors, senior scientists and NITUB technical experts. |
| |
| |
Participants |
| |
| |
A maximum of 15 (Fifteen) participants will be selected from among the applications of scientists and technical personnel of public and private educational institutes and research organizations. Young staff member and postgraduate student having UV-VIS & IR spectrophotometer facilities at his/her working place will have preference to participate in the training programme. IFS grantees of South Asia region are welcome to participate in the programme. Limited fund is available for IFS grantees of the South Asia region to participate in the programme. |
| |
| |
Registration |
| |
| |
Applications to participate in the 41st training programme on UV-VIS & IR spectrophotometer should reach the General Secretary of NITUB on or before 20 January 2011 in the proforma given in the circular. Application must be sent through proper channel along with a training fee of Tk. 7,000/- (taka seven thousand) in the form of a bank draft or pay order in the name of NITUB. Training fee will include registration, teaching materials, lunch and tea. |
| |
| |
Selected participants will be informed by 24 January 2011 and the training fee of the applicants who could not be accommodated will be refunded. |
